The development of a 127–bedroom student accommodation facility in a seven–storey building completed in 2018 on the site of a former single storey warehouse resulted in the comprehensive regeneration of an underutilised brown-field urban site in inner city Dublin.
The confined urban site presented a number of design challenges coupled with a limited building programme which were overcome by our leadership of a focused design team and a competent building contractor resulting in the project being delivered to the client on time and within budget. Collaboration and communication across the design and construction team and the use of state-of-the-art building information modelling (BIM) software were crucial to the success of the project.
The building which occupies a major location at the interface of the new Technological University Dublin Grangegorman campus with the city environs sits comfortably alongside its neighbouring historical protected structures and enhances the streetscape of this.
